A Pediatric Respite Home

MiMi’s House is a community respite care home for kids with complex medical and behavioural challenges.

The House is separately owned and maintained by the BC Housing Authority, and care is provided by Thompson Community Services under contract with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. CRSS’s role raises funds and accepts donations for projects at MiMi’s House, purchasing items that will improve the quality of care and enjoyment for the children receiving respite care.

About the Space

The facility includes four bedrooms, a kitchen, living and dining areas, a utility room, and a specially equipped bathroom. The outdoor area also has an accessible swing, playground, and sheltered picnic table.

History of MiMi's House

MiMi’s House opened in October 2003. It was named in memory of a child that passed away during the difficult transition after the Todd Wing closed at Queen Alexandra, as families pushed for continued respite care.
